Elliot's Murder

With the case of Hannah's death now closed the story moves forward to the trial that will follow in the cover up of Elliot Davison's death. Taking place two months after the finale in Season 1, we already see the effects taking place with Richard being behind bars for covering evidence once again. Paige is now in jail after having confessed to help burying the body while Jessica is still out free.

Is it to assume that Jessica will walk away scott free for pulling the trigger that night and then helping her father to arrange to tamper with Hannah's car. Absolutely not she is intent on having her part in the crime stay hidden no matter the cost. Of course she still has Ryan in her corner in a twist that no one will see coming.

Simon/Sharon/Garrett

With Richard behind bars the state attorney's office will then place Simon Hoffman (Thomas Calabro) into his seat to prosecute the case, given his past in law school with Richard it should make for an interesting show down. Simon also has a past connected to Sharon Morris that will come to light and shows a special interest in Callie. Sending Callie on a journey this season to wonder where she truly belongs.

Sharon will be confronting her past with both Richard and Simon this season, while her marriage to Garrett is hanging on the edge. Putting her in the position to then have to make a choice in which road she will take professionally and personally. Richard’s blackmail will quickly prove to not be, as kind as she had hoped.

Garrett will come to realization that he wasn’t crazy and that his time in mental institution was more for his safety. He comes to be at peace with his time there as well as dwelling on a past before his first wife Leann. He is also thrown into the legal ramifications of the cover up with Elliot when Sharon agrees to defend Richard. He also agrees to represent Karen in her divorce from Alan, leading him to question his current marriage.

Karen/Alan/Bridgette

With his partner in crime sitting in jail for covering up the murder that he thinks Paige committed, as well as Hannah’s death Alan could be getting off for his involvement. The only problem is that his personal life has fallen apart from the revelations. Karen has served him with divorce papers and his children aren’t speaking to him. Going as far as to denouncing him.

Bridgette’s life is in shambles based on the mistake that she made telling Alan the truth about Paige all those years ago. She and James are on the outs, her daughter is in jail. Leading her right back into Alan’s waiting arms to work through the mess together. As a loss as to how to reach out to Paige, she will look towards her son to forgive her.

Karen takes an active step towards redeeming herself and putting herself back together, actively participating in the MADD committee. She is happy with the decision to end her marriage to Alan, based on what he did to their daughter and the affair that brought on Paige. She also will be forced to look towards asking Alan for help when she thinks that Jacob is getting in over his head with Jessica.

James/Helen

With his marriage to Bridgette now over, he has no choice but to move forward and lash out his anger by publishing Brian’s book against his will. He also turns back to leaning on Helen who is dealing with a crisis this season, a mother’s worst fear coming true. A possible reconciliation to his past with Helen that should entice readers.

Helen will be facing new challenges this year, her friendship with Sharon strong again and she is going to need it. Paige is behind bars for helping to dispose of Elliot’s body and she receives devastating news about Shane. The unthinkable happens with Shane is revealed to have pancreatic cancer that is spreading. Even the news of Kate’s pregnancy can’t seem to out weigh the news, leading her to lean on James.

Jake/Jessica/Brian/Vanessa

After the revelation from her memory slightly coming back and Brian’s batch of lies, Vanessa really isn’t sure who to trust anymore. Unsure if she should ever forgive Jake and Kate, even more so now that she knows that Paige knew the truth all along. She still has strong feelings for Brian too, and a few surprise visits from Cade and Austin will help her decision along. Testing her ability to forge forward with her life and deciding what she wants. Brian knows that he is the under dog after the truth about the book and his father’s body is recovered. Forging a friendship with Austin helps the process and he is still torn on the loyalty to his brother. Forcing him to choose between Ryan and Vanessa is never easy.

Jake is torn as, he begins deals with the fallout of his father’s lies, cutting Alan from his life and trying to make amends to everyone for Paige’s lies. Even if his feelings for Vanessa are still very real and very present, he struggles to make things right with her. Teaming back up with Kate to try and win her back. Only to be in for a shock when Jessica's hold growns on him. Jessica refuses to go away for any part of her crimes towards Elliot and Vanessa, instead she lets her father take the fall. Her goal quickly becomes to do whatever it takes in order to become Jake’s future. Of course with Ryan still wrapped around her fingers and their partnership running ahead she has a weapon. She certainly won’t go down without a fight.

Paige/Shane/Ryan/Tyler/Callie/Jamie

Paige finally starts to have her guilt catch up with her while behind bars, even though she knows more than she should about Jessica’s involvement. She can’t do much about it behind bars unfortunately, leading to her reaching out to Callie for help. Things only get more complicated when Ryan starts popping up to visit her in prison, asking if Richard did pull the trigger or not. Ryan having ulterior motives in wanting the truth based on the conflicting stories between Jessica and Paige. Shane has his own troubles to deal with when Peter diagnosis his cancer and his only goal is to spend the time by Paige’s side. Making choices for her that could endanger everything.

Callie decides to take matters into her own hands when she feels that Paige should pay the consequences that her sister had for the murder of Elliot Davison. Going as far as to quit working at her parent's firm and start working for Simon Hoffman at the DA's office, who has an agenda all of his own. Tyler, is promoted within the department for his efforts of resovling the case and Greg assigns Jamie O'Keefe (Kristen Bell) as his new partner straining his relationship with Callie. He and Jamie begin to look more closely into Paige's statement and decide to turn the heat onto Jessica to find the murder weapon that has disappeared.

Cade/Kate/Austin/Liz/Peter

Kate has come to a crossroads as many saw in the season finale, she is pregnant but unable to tell Cade the truth puttering her at odds with herself. Austin is far from perfect with his involvement with her or his decision to marry Liz while still having feelings for his ex. Leading Cade to make some tough decisions when it comes to his future with Kate in Season 2 and his friendship with Liz and Austin.

Liz will be in recvovery leading her to examine her self destructive behavior with cocaine abuse and the steps that she will take to recover from the process. Peter is by her side for her recovery, hoping to make amends for being over seas most of their relationship. However, when he discovers the truth about Kate's condition he will be forced to make choices to protect his sister.
