Jamie was born to Heather Hoffman on a cold winter night in December while her father was in Paris with his latest conquest. Her mother raised her for most of her life in New York City, Simon came around when it was necessary or when duty called. Her parents amicably divorced when she was three after a long drawn out custody battle and divorce. A judge ruled in favor of her mother getting custody and with her father, getting visitation and she knows all to well that Sharon Morris was the reason for her parents split. In high school her father came around despite her mother's protests to mend his relationship with her, he also began to run for state attorney.

Eventually she put two and two together that the only reason her father was showing an interest was for his campaign efforts. She enrolled in the police academy shortly after graduation, much to her father's displeasure. She graduated a year ago and was assigned a partner Isaac Tredmont. While on a breaking and entering call the assailant shot Isaac and she in turn put eight into his chest, her first shooting. The department found her not at fault and she asked to be reassigned. Simon stepped in to cover up the mess and bring her to West Lake, assigning Tyler Donovan as her partner.
